Teacher

Mr. McGeeDear Fourth Grade Families,

Hello, my name is James McGee and I am beginning my second year teaching at St. Edward School. I grew up in Alameda where my two brothers and I attended St. Philip Neri School. After high school, I graduated from Chabot College’s firefighter academy prior to my calling to be a teacher. I later earned my bachelors degree and teaching credential from California State University (Hayward) East Bay. My teaching career began in the Newark public schools at the elementary level where I taught students in grades K through 6, in addition to coaching.

I met my wonderful wife, Kristina, in 1991 and we were married two years later. We made Newark our home for six years prior to moving to Fremont. After teaching for fifteen years, I transitioned into administration where I served for eight years. Over time I found myself missing the classroom, so I made a change and was hired to teach 6th grade English on the peninsula where I worked for five years.

In addition to my 37 years in education, I also served as a lector in the Diocese and I am a proud member of the Italian Catholic Federation. My hobbies are writing, gardening, and exercising.

This will be my eighth year teaching full time in the Diocese of Oakland; I taught summer school for three years prior to full time employment.

I have been truly blessed during my life and teaching career and I look forward to working with you as we meet the academic, social, and faith needs of your child.

Blessings,
James McGee, MEd
