Teachers
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Hello, my name is James McGee and I am blessed to be job-sharing the fourth grade teaching position this school year with Mrs. Judy Nye. I will be here on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
I grew up in Alameda where my two brothers and I attended St. Philip Neri School. After high school, I graduated from Chabot College’s firefighter academy prior to my calling to be a teacher. I later earned my bachelors degree and teaching credential from California State University (Hayward) East Bay. My teaching career began in the Newark public schools where I served for over twenty years as a teacher, coach, and administrator. My calling to teach in the Catholic schools led me to Holy Spirit School and later to St. Edward. This year marks my ninth year serving the Diocese of Oakland.
I met my wonderful wife, Kristina, in 1991 and we were married two years later. We made Newark our home for six years prior to moving to Fremont. In addition to my 39 years in education, I also served as a lector in the Diocese and I am a proud member of the Italian Catholic Federation.
I have been truly blessed during my life and teaching career and I look forward to working with you as we meet the academic, social, and faith needs of your child.
Blessings,
James McGee, MEd

Greetings Faith Family,I am so blessed to continue serving St. Edward School in such a special way this year, and very happy to share fourth grade with Mr. McGee. I will facilitate learning in the classroom on Thursdays and Fridays each week, and will also help provide professional development to teachers and staff!
I attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in upstate New York through eighth grade, and our two children graduated from St. Leonard/OLG and Holy Spirit in Fremont.
Talk about full circle, God surely has a strong plan for each of us! As many of you know, I started my teaching career right here in Room 4 as a USF student teacher many years ago. I taught in Fremont Unified schools for ten years, received my Master’s degree from CSU East Bay, then moved on as principal in Fremont for 14 years. I returned to St. Edward in 2024 after “retiring” from FUSD.
Thank you for trusting us with your children at St. Edward. I am so happy to continue growing and learning with them and this amazing community!
With His Love,
Judy Nye
