Teacher
Third Grade Families,
Hello! My name is Emilie Martinez and I am SO excited to have the honor of teaching 3rd Grade here at St. Edward! While this may be the start of my teaching career, I've been lucky enough to spend several years here as an Instructional Assistant and have gotten to work closely with students in Jr. Kindergarten all the way through 4th Grade.
Having grown up right here in Newark, I attended St. Edward from Kindergarten all the way through 8th Grade and loved every second of my time at the school. I then went on to attend Newark Memorial High School for all 4 years and graduated in 2020. (well, sort of... Thanks Covid!) After that, I attended Ohlone College before transferring to CSU East Bay in Hayward. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Teacher Preparation and hope to go back to school soon to complete a Master's Degree in Special Education!
Teaching has always been something that I've felt called to pursue and I truly feel as though I'm answering the call that God has put forth for me. I am constantly striving to be a role model for my students, encouraging them to live and act as Jesus did on a day to day basis. I also hope to inspire them to grow as learners not only in the classroom, but in their daily lives. My goal is that 3rd Grade will always be a safe space for students to have fun with their learning, express their authentic selves, and grow in their faith.
Let's make this year a great one and I cannot wait to work with each and every one of you!
Blessings,
Ms. Emilie Martinez
