3rd Grade » Teacher

Teacher

Hello! My name is Marissa Muterspaugh (pronounced Mute-er-spa) and this is my first year as the 3rd-grade teacher! For the past 3 years, I have worked at St. Edward as the Instructional Assistant for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades as well as the learning support coordinator last year.

I am currently in a credential program at Notre Dame de Namur University at Belmont. I received my BA in Theatre Arts (Acting Option) and graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Hayward (East Bay now, but I still refer to it as “Hayward”). Since then I have worked as an actor, director, and theatre educator here in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Also, years ago I worked here at St. Edward as an Instructional Assistant so, I really feel that this school community is like a second home for me. I feel so incredibly lucky to be teaching your children here!

This year will be full of academic fun and challenges as well as time for reflection, art, music, dance, and theatre. The students will be working on their writing techniques and developing their structural features. These skills will not only span ELA work but also help in Science, Social Studies, and Religion. We will also be working on cursive handwriting so get those pencils and whiteboards ready for some practice! (Only 2 ways to get to Carnegie Hall: Practice, practice, practice!...and a taxi). The third graders have enrichment classes which include Spanish once a week, Music twice a week, and PE three times a week. This is also their first year of having the responsibility of their very own Chromebook. Let’s work together to make sure that they are successful in bringing it to class every day fully charged and ready to work.

I am so looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, laughter, and LIGHT!
