Welcome to our 6th grade web page!

"Wonder is the desire for knowledge."
                                    - St. Thomas Aquinas

I am honored to be chosen to be your 6th grade teacher at this wonderful learning community, St. Edward School. I look forward to our advancing together, parents and students, towards our collective academic goals.  Before completing my Ed.D. at Illinois State University, I taught in elementary and secondary schools in California, Illinois and New Mexico.

I consider myself an educational historian specializing in curriculum theory and research, critical teaching, and the development of schools in a democratic society.  My main focus of research is New College (1932-1939) and how those ideas of social reconstruction and progressive student-centered pedagogy can be used today.

We will explore content areas of Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, History, and Art with the objective of preparing our young students to develop the necessary abilities such as understanding another viewpoint, clarifying points, thinking creatively, looking in the long run and how to treat other people with skill, tact, and respect. These character traits, essential in solving these types of problems, are part of being a beacon for peace and goodwill under God's grace.
