Degrees and Certifications:
Hi, my name is Kathy Miranda, and I have been an educator for over 20 years. I am happy to have spent the last five years with Saint Edward! I have come full circle as I started as a student in Newark, received my formal education at CSU East Bay, and now am back teaching in Newark. It has taken me many years of teaching other grades to find my calling as a 4th-grade teacher, but it was well worth the wait!
4th-grade is such a fun year because the students are so full of curiosity, and the curriculum is rich. We are now moving from learning to read, to reading to learn. In Writing, we are learning to write more precisely by adding detail and more specific words. In Math we learn to multiply and divide multiple digit numbers, we learn how to compare fractions, simplify fractions, and rename, add and subtract Mixed Numbers. We learn about California History and learn Science using the NGSS curriculum. While focusing on all of these subjects, we are working on our spiritual development by studying the Catholic faith and praying together.
I am so happy to have the privilege of entering into a partnership with you in helping your child thrive academically, spiritually, and socially. I am looking forward to a fantastic year of helping your child learn and grow.
22nd Mission Projects will commence this month and conclude on January 24th!
