Hi!  I’m Lourdes Grace Miranda-Esteves. I have been an Early Childhood Educator for the past 40 years, and have held various professional roles as a Kindergarten teacher, Music and Movement teacher, Choreographer, Stage Play Director and Assistant Principal.  This is my seventh year teaching 2nd grade at St. Edward School. I am so happy and grateful to be a part of St. Edward School where I am able to grow in Faith and at the same time do the work I love most, which is teaching young children.

In 2nd grade, students will have their most awaited Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation and finally, their First Holy Communion.  It is also this year when students have a Parent- Child Retreat in preparation for their First Eucharist. I consistently use prayers in different forms in my class; particularly praise songs and dances.  My students learn to use sign language in all our prayers and songs. We have a prayer corner in class, a sacred space for them to reflect, to write and express their joys, their concerns, then offer all these to God.

I believe that children learn best when motivated to move forward and explore the many possibilities of  what they can be good at.  Hence, project approach, music and movement, and integrated learning are constant features in my teaching strategies.  We set high standards for our goals and encourage each one to believe that everyone has the ability to be good at something. Here they can become authors, scientists, artists, and many more! Above all, my goal is to develop love for learning in my young students, in a school where they will feel safe and happy,  important and loved.
